one factor demonstrates a HIGH level of evidence for delaying or preventing cognitive decline -- cognitive training.

Of course, that's not to say you shouldn't take care of yourself in other ways. Other factors, for example physical activity and a diet rich in vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids, were associated with a decreased risk of cognitive decline. These things are likely good for your brain, but the authors did not find enough evidence to say so definitively.

“Jesus Wept”: The Bible and Human Emotions

In preparation for the Holy Week, I would be sharing to all how Jesus life has touched our emotional and psychological well-being. This is Part 1.

“Jesus Wept”

As humans, we are the most rational of all the world’s created beings. Marvelous as they are, frogs, dogs, caterpillars, and donkeys don’t have our capacity to reason. Yet, even with all our powers of logic and rationality, we’re also emotional beings. One could argue, justifiably, that emotions rule our lives to a much greater extent than reason does or ever could.

Emotions are good; without them we’d barely be human. (What kind of person doesn’t know love, compassion, sympathy, fear, or sorrow?) Robots might be able to function emotionlessly; we never could.

" ‘I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy’ " (John 16:20, NKJV).

Emotions are a vital part of the human personality. They can be powerful motivators, both for good and for evil. And, depending on the emotions, they make us happy, sad, fearful, or joyous.
“Positive” emotions can bring a feeling of satisfaction and well-being; “negative” ones tend to cause pain and anguish. Though the first ones can promote mental health, a prolonged exposure to “negative” emotions may bring about behavioral and relational problems. Thus, emotions can play an important part in our overall well-being.

God wants us to enjoy the effects of positive emotions. However, because of sin, we often face the adverse effects of negative emotional experiences. Bible characters were not immune to emotional ups and downs either. Some succeeded in gaining control over them; others, losing control, allowed negative emotions to lead them into wrong actions.

The relationship between emotions and behavior is not clear and direct. At times painful emotions may drive us to our knees in order to seek God as the ultimate source of help and support. At other times struggles may cause people to give up faith entirely.

How crucial, then, that we learn more about our emotions and how they impact our lives.

Dear Father God,

First and foremost, I must ask your forgiveness for the little faith I have shown in You. As I look back, You have been so very good to me. I have screamed and yelled at you and even early in life I didn't believe You were real. I walked and talked as if You could not hear me. I even still do at times, but I catch it much more quickly now. I am sorry Father.

God, I write to you asking forgiveness for those that still live in those ways. You have taken the blinders off my eyes and I see your tears of sadness for what mankind does to You in our ignorance.

Father, I remember the day quite well that You lifted blinders from me. I now slightly understand the pain you felt when mankind nailed Your precious Son, Jesus Christ to a cross to die. For this day.....a big Thankful Thursday Lord.

Crazy Carrot Smoothie Recipe
(serves 2-3)
Ingredients
3/4 medium sized cup of carrot juice
3/4 medium sized cup of orange juice
1/2 cup soya milk
6 ice cubes
Method
Pour the carrot juice and orange juice into blender and mix gently until well combined. Add the ice cream and mix until thoroughly blended. Add the ice cubes and process until smooth. Pour the mixture into glasses. Sit back and enjoy.

Thankful for blessings enjoyed this week:

1. My hubby graduated from one month training of CHIP : Coronary Heart Improvement Project by Dr. Hans Diehl,DrPH,Director CHIP U.S.A., through Manila Adventist Medical Center and Colleges at Angelo King Wellness Center. I attended the graduation last night. One thing I learned is that, diet plays a great role in reversing, controlling diseases such as: stroke, heart problems, diabetes, etc. through a PLANT-BASED DIET. Read the following books I found so helpful, "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr. MD, was surgeon, clinician, researcher at the Cleveland Clinic.

2. My son is joining the weekend camping today and we are happy to note that he is growing strong and maturer in God's hand everyday. And daughter, is helping him prepare for this camping.

3. My mom, turning 74 and she is healthy, happy and still working as a volunteer principal at Nanuri International School.

4. To God be the Glory and in all things we give thanks.

Finding the Right One for My Daughter

Just two days ago, I had a conversation via with my sister-in-law who is a nurse in London. Well, come to think of it she surprise the family with a suggestion that she would offer to take my daughter with her to study in London, so she can have the best education in terms of her chosen career. My daughter plans to take up Music with maybe a concentration on performance or piano combine with voice pedagogy. We were so dumbfounded with the offer. We started to plan for this news. I was trying to think of starting her off with a Sixth form college to transition her from our educational system. This would prepare her to advanced school level qualifications.

easter revision courses could be her starting point. I would be contacting them for information and we can get ready as soon as possible. My daughter has to be oriented with the culture, the school, the people and the rest of what she could possibly learn so by the time she will go she is really ready. I would be missing her but a chance like this is hard to come by. Good luck to all of us...preparations must start now!

A Gift for Hubby!

March is coming and this March 2011 is a big event for the family. I have two reasons to celebrate and prepare fast. My son who is in Grade six is graduating on March seventeen and my husband's birthday is on the 25th. So what's the fuss about.....well.....for one I have to prepare gifts for this two big events, and everyone seem on edge and are really gearing to make a big celebration out of it. I was exactly eyeing some rustic furniture for my hubby and am still undecided. I have been looking around and finally came across a site I could pick to peek on some very good selections.

leather furniture is the one for him and this one offers a variety of very hardy, sturdy, beautiful furniture. I think I could give my hubby a new study table that fits his busy schedule. Specifications matters, it must be comfortable, durable and could become a master piece in years to come. This one must become a piece my hubby could be proud of to give as an heirloom piece to the next generation. Any suggestion, so far am getting lost with hundreds of selections I'm looking at. Think I could go to the next page of this brochure now...hmmm...this one is nice...that one is nice....why, all are simply beautiful!

Simple joys like: aromatherapy session shared by Lyn my friend and afterward she gifted me with the following essences I enjoy...peppermint, jasmine and lavender..oh...so soothing and it cleared my mind and relaxes my body and soul, more of it my friend.

Imagine our favorite food all the way from my mom....via airplane...hhahaha....thanks mom, you're a dear always, really.

My wish list for this year is so tall I could pin it from the roof top of the apartment down to the ground. One of the list include attending Monaco Grand Prix in actions, live, so I can shout with the crowd in the excitement of all what there is to see. My country is rocked by political corruptions among top leadership in both the military and other government agencies. But through it all I still believe God is in control of everything. A handful have come out to be key witnesses of some gigantic graft cases these leaders are facing. We call these brave few "Our Heroes" and they come from the rank and file of the government who want change and transparencies in all transactions. To our heroes we are thankful for your integrity, honesty, love for country and an unwavering faith in God who will protect you in this dark history of our country. To all friends, let's pray that the truth will set us free.

I thank the Lord that He is always there for my family. My daughter has joined an academy camping and the weather is not so good. One hour the sun shines brightly and the next, a storm poured its wrath to all campers and it happened last night. We have to evacuate our daughter, and all her things and her fellow campers at 11:00 p.m. last. Everyone is safe and we are thankful for being safe.

My son received an MVP award for soccer. He is grade six and has done so well in sports. Thank you Lord for the gift of sports and for my children's hard work.

And to all blogging friends around the world, you are my inspiration. Keep on blogging, dropping comments, visiting and writing great posts. I love you all!

Yeheeey!......it's yeheey time for me. My sister-in-law just called a while ago and told me the good news. The good news is, she said on the phone..."Sister, I am on vacation for a month...hhhmmm, and we decided with your brother John that we would volunteer to redo your bathroom this week, is that okay?" "What! is that okay? that is not the question...do it." Yeheey....I was shrieking jubilantly a minute ago...this is dream come true, redecorating my bathroom was a long time dream.....and it's coming true. Sis-in-law just sent in the brochures she said she found from a website she opened and this

Hardwood floor installation cost a dime and have gorgeous designs, and I am really so excited with what I have seen so far. I told my husband that we have to go a Home Depot that has the products from the brochures. Well, husband Ted was just too willing to go, because, in all honesty, my sis-in-law and brother would pay for labor....labor is free...oh my this is not happening and it's making my day.....aheeemmm.....brighter, sunnier...lovelier, you name it...I am ecstatic. I have to be in the depot by ten and I have an hour left.....got to hurry now!

My mom and her paintings titled..."Under the Sea" the biggest she has produced...bought by one private college in our place, it now hangs on the lobby of the college library. She takes order locally and internationally. She painted these paintings three years ago when she was 71 years old. She is active in both church and civic activities and does painting exhibits. The painting with a local boat scene was inside my house, we were getting ready for her exhibit in the college were I work.

Favorite treat of my family...uhhhhmmmm...just so delicious!

Tropical Smoothie Recipe:

Tasty Stuff:
1/2 cup coconut meat
1 banana cut into chunks
1/2 cup mango
1 cup of milk
1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream

Nutrition:
1 capsul of Vinotol (you can get it free at www.Vinotol.com)
1 scoop of Vanilla protein (availale at most pharmacies)

Directions:
Blend the banana with the milk, ice cream, mango, and coconut until a smooth texture is formed. Add protein and Vinotol after everything has blended; blend again until the smoothie reaches a smooth texture again. This smoothie should be very sweet and tasty. Enjoy!

Kare-Kare or Philippine Beef Stew

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo oxtail
1/2 kilo beef stripe
1/2 cup oil
4 tablespoons atsuete oil
2 heads garlic (minced)
2 medium sized onions (diced)
1/2 cup bagoong alamang
3 cup ground nuts or 4 cups of peanut butter
1/4 cup ground toasted rice
5 pieces eggplant (sliced into rings)
1 banana bud (cut to almost proportional to eggplant slices, blanch in boiling water)
1 bundle sitaw (string beans) cut to 2″ long
1 bundle pechay (bok-choy)
Salt and Pepper

Procedure:
1. In a casserole, boil oxtail, beef stripe. Lower fire and let simmer until cooked. Remove all scum that rises to the surface.
2. Drain, set aside then reserve the stock.
3. In a big wok, heat oil and atsuete oil and saute garlic, onion and toasted rice and nuts (if using nuts).
4. Add oxtail and beef stripe, pour in the stock, season with salt and pepper and add peanut butter (if using peanut butter).
5. Simmer until all flavors are incorporated, then add the vegetables.
6. Make sure vegetables is not over-cooked.
7. Serve hot with bagoong /or fish sauce and chili pepper

Thank you Lord for a successful trek to Taal Volcano today....we enjoyed the hike though it was so hot and humid, dusty, and tired but seeing the volcano crater with it's majestic beauty was awesome in itself....the boat ride was so calm and peaceful, the people who guided us and later served a sumptuous lunch and the time we were able to contemplate on God's goodness to His creation.

Bzzzzz! kringggg! Bingo!that's the shrill sound of the buzzer I heard from the sound system as I passed by Bingo arcade in one of the malls I visited the other day. Me and my friends went shopping, and Dinah urged everyone to join. I never played bingo in my life before and joining now is a bit exciting. I don't know how to do it but each of my five girlfriends have something to say about how to play it. Well, to make the long story short, I did not win any, but the exciting part was everyone I saw really concentrated and when a buzzer shrills, everyone shouted.....wow! what a noisy crowd. My friends told me to try some free bingo sites I could hone my skills and they gave me
bingo sites to log on too. Well, I may try my luck online then practice, practice, practice. I may sneak out to a mall without them and surprise them with what I have won. Tap my shoulders ok...am gonna be lucky this time.

Class Retreat: La Roca Trinidad

Class retreat happened last Saturday and Sunday.
We tackled the days program as follow:
Saturday : Groups Dynamics: Inner Directed and Self-Actualization Process. Everyone shared their visions in life and how to achieve each others goals in life. Testimonies were done late in the afternoon, with three visitors testifying God's leading in their lives. Emotions involved that day were mixed.We need some catharsis in the forms of tears, laughter, nervous discussions. Soon everything ended and all were refreshed. We topped the activities with swimming----hot springs galore....splashing all the way like children in a storm. Overnight singing, eating, talking. Oh! reality strike...I have an early 8 a.m. class....got to gooooooo.....am late from last night's outing...

Wow! my sister's boyfriend is up to his sleeves helping his friend preparing and psyching himself up for the greatest ride of his life. Jen, emailed and said both she and his boyfriend Craig were given tickets to this race that is deemed widely considered as the most significant and famous automobile experience in the world, the

Whew! am in the real world now. After a two week vacation grande, well am right in my world now. Back to books, researches, classes,and tons of requirement for this semester. My sister in-law however sent me, what she calls, a faceless,smartest library that creates, edits,displays,prints Acrobat PDF documents. Grace,my sister-in-law says,
PDF Viewer is small, fast, easy to use and can be integrated in my projects. It has even lots of features I have to discover.She sent me yesterday the brochure and I think this afternoon I have to see my computer technician to help me with this product. Well, in this world of techno magic, am still, kind of lost. I marvel at products like these, and when presented with one, my mind gets muddled at what they can do, but, I have to be ahead of my time and learn such thing. Good, I have friends around to show me and explain the in and out of such technology. This is a big help, but I need more help, huh!

After five years of dating, listening to their stories of adventure, failure and victories, finally, the two march in a grand wedding attended by friends and loved ones. I was not able to attend the wedding, but
photo book, these set of gifts I sent will surely seal the memories forever. I promise the two that come summer I will visit them and enjoy the pictures of the most memorable day of their life together. They have uploaded pictures in Facebook, and I had glimpses of what happened during the wedding. I got to shed a tear or two for this couple. The Lord is always so good. We've been through a lot of reunions during the holiday break and with family and friends we are always thankful. For this Thankful Thursday am so thankful for high school classmates who are taking care of our very sick classmate Cristy, to survive the crisis he is facing. Part of our reunion was to visit him: we prayed, reminisced, shed tears of laughter, joy and sadness, but through it all, we are so thankful that God has supported him this far. Just yesterday Dinah, another classmate informed us that although Cristy is in pain, he is still so thankful for the goodness and mercy of God and for high school friendships built. We thank you God in times of sadness, sickness and in time of bounty. Praise you, you are our savior.

I have been praying for my lost money. It meant a lot.....and it was an answered prayer, I found it yesterday....the money is intended for a friend's birthday and my son's coming birthday too. I really kept a portion of my allowance for months so I can give these two beloved persons in my life a surprise. For all the hustle of the weeks I misplaced it...where...I did not know. I prayed so hard for enlightenment....my brain is really telling it's age...hhahahhaha! but just yesterday....something really clicked!.....my prayers were answered.....I found this small treasure. Lord, thank you for keeping my finances intact and for making my brain neurons worked.

For all friends, thank you for your support. And a special blogging friend, who is always by my side....Ginny...you are a treasure, I know you can read this. Your comments always warm my heart and I always look forward to reading it. You've made my upside-down days warmer and happy. Meet you again in this blogging world. Brrrr! Just so Cold!

Brrrrr! just the thought of working outside, send shivers to my spine....it's not because am afraid of what I would see outside but the cold wind and the cold weather is just so alarming. This time of the year is really a challenging one, we have been experiencing the tail end of the cold front and we've been expose right now with onset of coldness everywhere. Our apartment administrator requested installation of gadgets,
Patio Heater so we still can enjoy activities outside. Maybe tonight we can enjoy the outdoor then....tsk...tsk...with a cup of hot chocolate and a couple of invited friends this would be a good night tonight. My children and their friends could then play up to nine p.m. Wow! am thinking of some board games too....care to join?

"Grace, I think we've got to do something with the way our finances are going." This was my opening statement to my sister-in-law before the clock struck Jan.1 2011. We were watching the fireworks outside our house when I thought about going really, really serious about putting up a new business for the family. Being the eldest I always would think something for the family financial affairs. She suggested that she could contact one or two people who can help us launch what we were thinking of...a food business. Just in time she mentioned a growth engine for small businesses just like what we have business checks that would be an excellent partner to unleash the potential of this business.She also mentioned that their innovative products and services are affordable and can help maximize our future profitability. Hmmm....am kind of hooked on the idea. My sister-in-law better decides on this...she has the IQ for things like these. Am on the other side of the coin. Go,go,go sister, do whatever you can, am behind you all the way!

I Just Need a Holiday!

Whew! just needed the best break I could get....am just plain tired....just so tired! What will all the requirements and loads of work to do and the house work seems to be unending. The holiday season is soon to come and I have to finish the first batch of reports before the holiday break. My family has taken an early holiday off but me and my husband had to bring home a lot of work to lessen the load come new year. A friend
emailed me and brought up the idea of a family and friends holiday, and its gonna be aEuropean holidays. According to her, she can do a reservation quickly and we just can join her. Oh! my! that would really be a treat, but with what we are doing right now, it's really an impossibility.I am keeping my fingers cross to have it the next year. She told me they will be leaving on December 22, on time for Christmas. Tsk....tsk...tsk... am gonna miss the bonding time with them but I have to wish them the best for the holiday break. I am just looking forward to the postcards and pictures uploaded to my email. Best of luck to my friend and family....and happy holidays to me and my family, we just arrived home from a fifty-five hours land trip from the city to my home. It was the longest journey back home but it feels so good to be home.

My family will be going home very early on Thursday morning. We will be travelling for three days to reach home in time for Christmas preparation. This is the first time we are doing it and everybody is so excited. We will be visiting places along the way, so this is also an educational trip for the whole family. Pray, that this trip will be safe, enjoyable and fruitful. My mom would really be very happy when the family would be home for Christmas.Happy WFW to all friends around and wish us a happy trip.

food selection that are nutritious and easy to prepare.

BANANA PUDDING

Ingredients
1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups cold milk
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (16 ounce) package vanilla wafers
14 bananas, sliced
Directions
In a large mixing bowl, beat pudding mix and milk 2 minutes.
Blend in condensed milk until smooth. Stir in vanilla and fold in
whipped topping. Layer wafers, bananas and pudding mixture in
a glass serving bowl. Chill until serving.

The Lord is so good all the time....though I had a medical issue this week, all is well and am undergoing therapy for three months starting today. The Lord is giving me inner peace and am thanking Him all the way. And my ever loving husband for supporting me this far.

My son, performed a trumpet solo for the first time in a special program in the University Finster Hall.

My daughter's choir placed second in a choral competition last Wednesday.

For surprised advance Christmas gift that arrived yesterday.

I learned a lot from Marriage Monday blog and today am joining in the challenge!

TWO SOULS STILL ONE THIS CHRISTMAS!

1. His favorite Christmas cookies, a bunch of grapes and his favorite 'hot chocolatey' on Christmas morn...breakfast in bed!

2. Hot red bubble bath for two with little Christmas decors floating.

3. A brisk country walk to our favorite high spot on our campus hill.

4. A quick drive to our personal spot in the woods...with of course kisses trailing the way.

5. Knocking on friends doors and greeting them..."Happy Merry Christmas"!

6. Lunch with the gentle oldies in the Geriatric Clinic nearby. I've cooked up a storm the other day already!

7. Needy Children's Party by three p.m. and distribution of gifts we prepared six months before.

8. Our Christmas tree planting in our backyard..."Season Three"!

9. Writing down blessing this year and placing it in a special container sealed with a prayer.

10. Cuddling together...'til we fall asleep...dreaming of the blessings we enjoyed this year.

Am Losing It?

Oh my! Oh my! this was my surprise squeal a week ago when my husband told me that he notice my hair falling and that he has swept a handful of them. I was so stress the week before because of deadlines I have for end of the year narrative reports. I have a series of sleepless nights for three weeks straight and I haven't recovered from it all yet. My husband told me I have to report to

female hair loss clinic pronto today because he has arranged an appointment with the clinic. He said he has taken the liberty to do this because he knew I did not have the time. Thank you, dear husband for your love and concern. I always knew am in good hands. I got to find Julia's number my best-friend, so she can accompany me to the clinic this afternoon. I have to finish though a handful of these reports this morning so I can take off this afternoon. Kiss me luck today!

A Season to Get Away!

"Hello Tedd, this is Gladys, I decided not to come home this holiday, but I will try to visit you by summer, so give my hugs to the rest of the family members. Happy Holidays ahead." This was the phone call we received two days ago from my sister-in-law. She sent us a chat message by internet that instead she and her friends decided to take the opportunity to spend the Holidays with this

villa rental for five days. She also said that our package would arrive before Christmas and instructed us to see the labels to see where the rest of the packages be distributed. We would miss her but then we want her to enjoy her off days from the hospital. My sis-in-law is a nurse in one of the hospitals in UK and she has been a great supporter to our activities here at home. She even gave the neighborhood kids a party blast last Christmas, with toys and food galore. Everyone got to enjoy the games, the food, the gifts and the joy of meeting everyone around. This year, we are expecting another of her sponsored parties to the kids in the neighborhood. We are not kids anymore but we sure would enjoy this time! Thanks Gladys for your generosity and enjoy your break in that villa of yours!

Healthy Banana Muffin

Ingredients

2 eggs, beaten
3 very ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease or line 10 muffin cups.
In a medium bowl, combine eggs and bananas. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, sugar and baking soda. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture. Fold in walnuts if desired. Pour batter into prepared muffin cups.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

A long ring finger may be good news

The length of a young boy's finger may provide a clue as to whether he will be at risk of a heart attack in early adulthood.

Scientists at Liverpool University have established a link between the length of baby boys' fingers and their chances of going on to have a heart attack at an unusually young age.They believe the link could provide doctors with a simple way to to spot potential heart disease victims at a very early age.

The research shows that boys with shorter ring fingers tend to be at greatest risk.This is because these boys tend to have lower levels of the male sex hormone testosterone, which is known to protect against heart attack.

The genes that are indirectly responsible for the production of testosterone and the female hormone oestrogen also control the development of the fingers.

For the average male in Britain, this figure is about 0.97

Below 0.9 an individual is unlikely to have a heart attack early in life. Above 1.00 the risk climbs

Lead researcher Dr John Manning told the BBC: "Males tend to have a relatively longer ring finger compared to the index finger than females.

"This is a very early trait and it is under the influence of sex hormones.

"For a man, the ring finger tends to be about 2% longer than the index finger. The longer your ring finger, the more protected you are against heart attack, because the more testosterone you have.

"There is a relationship between the ratio between these two finger lengths and the age at heart attack of people who do have heart attacks."

The ratio between the two fingers remains the same throughout life.

Short ring fingers did not necessarily mean that boys would go on to have heart attacks, but should alert their parents to do what they can to lessen the risk.

Dr Manning said: "This is an indicator of risk independent of things like smoking and diet, so you can adjust your diet and stop smoking and so on, if you are in a high-risk group."Dr Manning and Dr Peter Bundred examined 151 male heart attack victims in Merseyside.

They found the age range for heart attacks in men where the index finger was relatively long was 35 to 80 years of age, but in those with relatively long ring fingers it was 58 to 80.Dr Manning has previously uncovered links between finger-length and vulnerability to depression and sporting ability.The research is to be published in the British Journal of Cardiology.

Yummy Sunday: Strawberry Refrigerator Cake

Just made one today....oooooohhhhh so delicious, the kids love it, can't put the spoon down!

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package strawberry cake mix
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
1 cup milk
2 cups frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 pint fresh strawberries

Directions

Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Allow to cool. Poke holes on top of cake. Puree thawed strawberries with juice in a blender or food processor and spoon over top of baked cake.
To Make Topping: Prepare pudding mix as directed on package using one cup of milk. Fold whipped topping into pudding mixture and spread over cake. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
Arrange fresh strawberries decoratively on top of cake and serve.

Squash Flan

Ingredients
brown sugar
1 cup squash, peeled boiled and mashed
1/4 cup cornstarch
1cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 pieces eggs, beatenshopping list
1 tablespoon vanilla

How to make it

1.Caramelize brown sugar in a pot. Make sure there is equal distribution of sugar. Set aside.
2. Blend squash, cornstarch, evaporated milk, and sugar.
3. Mix in eggs and vanilla.
4. Pour in baking container and steam for 15-20 minutes or until fork inserted comes out clean.
5. Refrigerate.

Here is a table of colors and many of the meanings they tend to evoke. Notice how colors can mean very different things - it is not that the colors themselves have meaning, it is that we have culturally assigned meanings to them. Cultural effects

Remember that color can be culturally dependent - for example, although Black is the color of death in many countries, in China the color associated with death is White.Use the color in situations where you are trying to persuade. Use shades of brown and green to relax people and say you are environmentally friendly. Use red to kick people into action. And so on.

McDonald's, apparently, use red and yellow because red=fast and yellow=hunger (hence fast food!).

Remember also that meaning is what we create. It does not exist in the color itself and individual meanings may or may not exist in different cultures and individuals.

My son, who is in Grade 6 was invited to be a member of the University Orchestra.....what a blessing...he plays lead trumpet in the elementary ensemble and now....a more mature group.....blessings....he told me last night that he learned a lot from this mature group and from the conductor himself.....my third year high school daughter is a member too for almost two years now, and am glad the two of them are together in the big orchestra. Love you kids!

A thesis advisee passed the proposal defense with an above average rating from the four panel member..96%....whew...wonderful blessings from above.

My husband's safe arrival to Jakarta Indonesia. He is attending the International Convention for Health Practitioners and Providers Nov.15-21, 2010....miss him for a week.

A special gift provided by a friend.....in time of need...there is always a brother or a sister in Christ.

My three week duty is done...am resting.....now.....ready for another days of duty in another agency/institution or what. Thank you Lord.

Consumers who bought homes during the housing boom and those houses built in 2002 and 2007are also worried that Chinese drywall problems can lead to electrical problems, thus making it difficult to sell their homes. Drywall, also known as wallboard or plasterboard, is typically made from the mineral gypsum in the US, but a shortage led suppliers to import drywall from gypsum mines in China.

Homeowners are concerned over the potential for property damage and health problems resulting from drywall from China that reportedly leaks corrosive chemicals. Reports include copper tubing turning black, the failure of air conditioning coils exposed to the drywall, smells of sulfur and illness (possibly from breathing airborne sulfuric compounds), including respiratory problems, nosebleeds and headaches. Haystacks!

Ingredients

1/2 kilo well-cooked red beans

1 pc. red onions or yellow onions

4 pcs. medium size chopped tomatoes

a dash of powdered garlic

salt to taste

soyanaise or soya base all purpose cream

asian dressing

shredded cheese ( vegetarian if you want a healthy recipe)

1 medium size corn chips or your choice of chips (chili, cheese, or what)

Cook red beans very well. Drain. Mixed all ingredients thoroughly. Topped with choice chips. Chill for 30 minutes. Voila, nutritious beannie goodness, easy to prepare and delicious! Try it now!

Grandmother Del was a collector of different types, styles and designs of clocks. She has big one, medium size ones, small ones, and even tiny, tiny clocks. I did not realize what the significance of these collections. One day I asked her, and she answered that each of those clocks represents a birth in the family as a way of celebration, and she told me too that those were Mantel clocks. I got to realize that those displayed mantel clocks that completed the look of our cabinets, bookcases or table is replete with history. I got to see some brands that she had....I found out she had Howard Miller Mantel clocks and other top brands like Bulova, a Seiko and Hermle mantel clocks. She also had a collection of handcrafted mantel clocks and mantel clocks with both Key wound and Quartz movements in which, she said where gifts from friends who knew about her collections. Well from what I saw, I got interested. By this year I vowed to start my collection and started browsing around and found this site.mantle clock

According to the manuals, these clocks are practical as they are reasonably priced some are operated by a quartz and some never require winding. They are the most accurate and most do have a chime feature. Movements may last over 20 years without maintenance except for changing battery every few years. My mom and me. Mom is 74 years but still does painting and has done exhibit in schools, by invitations and contract. Some of her works are displayed her in our background. Most of her paintings were sold locally and she has accepted foreign orders too. I thank mom for the gift of visual arts and music. She is also a musician and all of us siblings inherited her gifts. Am proud of her in every ways. Thanks Mom for you genes! LOL! May your tribe increase.

My Son and his Sermon

This week was a great blessing to us. Our son Tedd Daniel delivered a sermon, entitled " Every Home, a Little Church" at Philippine International Church in celebration of the Children's Ministry Week. All program were participated in by children from preschool up to the grade school. We parents were so excited but nervous about the whole event, specially that my son is not really up to public speaking. This occasion has changed our whole life. He took up the church lectern with braveness we haven't found in him for years. Before He went up he told he was nervous. I whispered in his ear and said..." Son, remember Moses of old, God supplied his strength to deliver God's people from Pharaoh.....he was not a very good speaker, but he went forth and glorified God. Remember God in the life of Moses and you will be okay.

Thank you Lord for supplying our son with braveness and the faith bigger than the mustard seed. A miracle happened this week, and people told us later that they were so blessed with the clarity of his sermon. Dear Lord and Father, thank you much from the bottom of our hearts! and for this TT....am so forever thankful!

Got a surprise to you everyone? Try this....surprisingly nutritious, once in a life time taste bud experience.....

Tofu Chocolate Ice Cream (no dairy)

Ingredients

1 box 12 oz. Mori Nu Soft Silken Tofu, do not use low fat, do not drain
1 12 oz. bag vegan chocolate chips, melted on low heat and cooled
1-2 Tblsp. Vanilla - you can use whatever flavor you like
1 cup Rice Milk (you can substitute with soy milk, Almond Milk etc.)

Directions:

Put the tofu in a blender and process until very smooth. Add the melted, cooled chocolate and process until well combined, you will have to stop and scrape the sides of the blender. Add the rice milk and vanilla and process until well blended. Pour into a covered container and chill until ready to use.

Freeze. This makes a lot of tofu ice cream mix so you may only be able to freeze part of it. Enjoy!

God, it's been a busy week this past few days.

What with my internship training and all the requirements I have to learn.

Adjustment with a new institutional culture,

new load to learn, new faces to explore, new personalities

to be thankful with.

It's been back breaking, bone creaking, mind boggling pace.

So fast, the clock ticks away, that at times I just forget to pray!

But, Lord just hear my plea....forgive me with all the things

I've gone astray!

Though, I grumble with how things must work, yes Lord, you just understood.

Just, help me get to where I go, protect me Lord, or lest I fall.

Tomorrow will be a new day, and today has just pass away.

The future hold new challenges bold,

Vegetarian Lasagna, Anyone?

My family is health conscious, we have been trying to eat healthy for years now. As a mom I do scout around for recipes that's healthy, affordable and yummy. Here's one Vegetarian Lasagna recipe you have to try and enjoy! Hmmmmm....so yummy delicious!

Lasagna with Mushroom and Spinach

Serves 6

Ingredients

250g 'instant' lasagna sheets

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 clove garlic, finely chopped

1 onion, chopped

800g fresh or canned tomatoes, chopped

1/2 cup vegetable stock

1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano

250g ricotta cheese

1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

salt and freshly ground black pepper

250g bag fresh baby spinach leaves

300g button mushrooms, sliced

200g mozzarella cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 180 C. Heat oil in a frying pan, add onion and fry for several minutes then add garlic. Saute for a further 5 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes, vegetable stock and oregano. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes.

Put ricotta in a bowl with the basil and nutmeg. Season generously with salt and pepper and mix.

Put the spinach in a pot with a lid then wilt the leaves in 2 tablespoons of boiling water. Remove from heat and drain.

Oil a large, shallow baking dish. Place a single layer of lasagna sheets over the base of the dish. Spread half of the ricotta mix over the sheets then make another layer on top with the spinach. Add another layer of lasagna sheets on top and spoon on some tomato sauce. Spread the remaining ricotta mixture on top, then add another layer with the sliced mushrooms. Finish with another layer of pasta sheets and then cover the top with the remaining tomato sauce. Bake for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle with the grated mozzarella. Return to oven and bake for a further 15 minutes or until the top is browned and pasta is cooked.

Serve with a green salad.
