What is Stumble Upon?

Stumble Upon is a service that helps you find websites that fit your interests. It uses information you provide to suggest sites that you will find interesting. Also, Stumble Upon will give you links to sites that your friends have recommended. It’s easy to use, you just give sites a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” to rate them. Stumble Upon uses that information and then when you click on the Stumble Upon icon, it will suggest potentially interesting sites for you. With 10.6 million users, it is a hugely popular community- based surfing tool.

“A Way to Find Your Corner of the Internet Sky”

“A Web service called StumbleUpon has spent the last six years trying to satisfy such a need, perfecting a formula to help you discover content you are likely to find interesting. You tell the service about your professional interests or your hobbies, and it serves up sites to match them. As you “stumble” from site to site, you will feel as if you are channel-surfing the Internet, or rather, a corner of the Internet that is most relevant to you.”

- New York Times, October 7, 2007

“The Most Addictive Website Ever”

“StumbleUpon is the greatest thing ever invented. The site makes the Internet infinite in its possibilities yet totally accessible. Warning: never has a website hijacked my brain, my attention span, and time itself quite like StumbleUpon.”

- The Oprah Magazine, January 30, 2009

I tend to stumble posts that I find interesting and that I think will appeal to other bloggers like myself. I have heard through the grapevine that you aren’t allowed to stumble giveaways.

Should you stumble your own posts?

Yes, you can stumble your own posts as long as you are stumbling more of other peoples and not just your own posts. I rarely stumble my own posts.

If you are the first person to stumble a post, please make sure to do a quick review of the post. You need to list the post title, category and a few sentences on what it’s about. It’s a one time only sort of thing so make sure you do it if you are the first one to stumble!

    Colors in our Life

Hello Friends & Bloggers try this out for our enjoyment

    Meanings of color

Here is a table of colors and many of the meanings they tend to evoke. Notice how colors can mean very different things - it is not that the colors themselves have meaning, it is that we have culturally assigned meanings to them. For example, red means warmth because of the color of fire. Likewise, it means anger because of the increased redness of the face when it flushes with blood. Purple symbolizes royalty only because the only purple dye that was available for many centuries was very expensive.

    ColorMeaning
RED:warmth, love, anger, danger, boldness, excitement, speed, strength, determination, desire, courage
ORANGE:cheerfulness, low cost, affordability, enthusiasm, stimulation, creativity
YELLOW:attention-grabbing, comfort, liveliness, cowardliness, hunger, optimism, overwhelm, Summer, comfort, liveliness, intellect, happiness, energy
GREEN:durability, reliability, environmental, luxurious, optimism, well-being, nature, calm, relaxation, Spring, safety, honesty, optimism, harmony, freshness
BLUE:peace, professionalism, loyalty, reliability, honor, melancholia, boredom, coldness, Winter, depth, stability, professionalism, honor, trust
PURPLE:power, royalty, nobility, elegance, sophistication, artificial, luxury, mystery, royalty, elegance, magic
GRAY:conservatism, traditionalism, intelligence, serious, dull, uninteresting
BROWN:relaxing, confident, casual, reassuring, nature, earthy, solid, reliable, genuine, Autumn, endurance
BLACK:Elegance, sophistication, formality, power, strength, illegality, depression, morbidity, night
WHITE:Cleanliness, purity, newness, virginity, peace, innocence, simplicity, sterility, snow

    Cultural effects

Remember that color can be culturally dependent - for example, although Black is the color of death in many countries, in China the color associated with death is White.Use the color in situations where you are trying to persuade. Use shades of brown and green to relax people and say you are environmentally friendly. Use red to kick people into action. And so on.

McDonald's, apparently, use red and yellow because red=fast and yellow=hunger (hence fast food!).

Remember also that meaning is what we create. It does not exist in the color itself and individual meanings may or may not exist in different cultures and individuals.

When Bad things Happen to Good Home Owners!

Ahhhh...not again....complains are already mounting with contaminations, leakage, foul smells, home fixtures falling. Consumers who bought homes during the housing boom and those houses built in 2002 and 2007are also worried that Chinese drywall problems can lead to electrical problems, thus making it difficult to sell their homes. Drywall, also known as wallboard or plasterboard, is typically made from the mineral gypsum in the US, but a shortage led suppliers to import drywall from gypsum mines in China.

Homeowners are concerned over the potential for property damage and health problems resulting from drywall from China that reportedly leaks corrosive chemicals. Reports include copper tubing turning black, the failure of air conditioning coils exposed to the drywall, smells of sulfur and illness (possibly from breathing airborne sulfuric compounds), including respiratory problems, nosebleeds and headaches
. We have to do something about it, and this agency can help
http://www.chinesedrywallproblem.com. Accordingly, CDC is working with federal agencies responsible for indoor and outdoor air testing to ensure that the results can help answer health questions. Something must be done or else we could be at risk too....I still want to enjoy my grandchildren and my retirements years...an active participation to a solution must be done. why don't you join me now!

    Manny Pacquiao, Our HERO!

We are proud of him for teaching us all what professional boxing is all about. I for one does not know boxing but from the fights and reviews from professional sports analyst, he's one person who is a winner but still is very professional in all his fights. I salute Manny for being humble, down to earth, God fearing and a real winner. You are our hero...keep on making our country proud of your good works!

    Your Style, My Style!

Grandmother Del was a collector of different types, styles and designs of clocks. She has big one, medium size ones, small ones, and even tiny, tiny clocks. I did not realize what the significance of these collections. One day I asked her, and she answered that each of those clocks represents a birth in the family as a way of celebration, and she told me too that those were Mantel clocks. I got to realize that those displayed mantel clocks that completed the look of our cabinets, bookcases or table is replete with history. I got to see some brands that she had....I found out she had Howard Miller Mantel clocks and other top brands like Bulova, a Seiko and Hermle mantel clocks. She also had a collection of handcrafted mantel clocks and mantel clocks with both Key wound and Quartz movements in which, she said where gifts from friends who knew about her collections. Well from what I saw, I got interested. By this year I vowed to start my collection and started browsing around and found this site.mantle clock
According to the manuals, these clocks are practical as they are reasonably priced some are operated by a quartz and some never require winding. They are the most accurate and most do have a chime feature. Movements may last over 20 years without maintenance except for changing battery every few years. Movement replacement is also very reasonable.I would love Mantel clocks that have chiming features like the 4/4 Westminster chime clocks will play:
4 notes on the quarter hour
8 notes on the half hour
12 notes on the three quarter hour
16 note Westminster melody on the hour and then strike the hour.

Got to browse some more so I can enjoy the sounds of it! Come be with me and let's enjoy the adventure of style!

    My Son and his Sermon

This week was a great blessing to us. Our son Tedd Daniel delivered a sermon, entitled " Every Home, a Little Church" at Philippine International Church in celebration of the Children's Ministry Week. All program were participated in by children from preschool up to the grade school. We parents were so excited but nervous about the whole event, specially that my son is not really up to public speaking. This occasion has changed our whole life. He took up the church lectern with braveness we haven't found in him for years. Before He went up he told he was nervous. I whispered in his ear and said..." Son, remember Moses of old, God supplied his strength to deliver God's people from Pharaoh.....he was not a very good speaker, but he went forth and glorified God. Remember God in the life of Moses and you will be okay.
Thank you Lord for supplying our son with braveness and the faith bigger than the mustard seed. A miracle happened this week, and people told us later that they were so blessed with the clarity of his sermon. Dear Lord and Father, thank you much from the bottom of our hearts! and for this TT....am so forever thankful!

    Spinning with Wicked Profit Thoughts!

What ahhh!...my grocery money is gone like smoke. I cannot just keep up with the demands of my kids school expenses and the rest of the prices of commodities going up suddenly. If I could just keep up with the mighty daily expense then I could be one happy mom. My mom, who is continually on an adventure found this one big surprise for me, she told me to click on this Wicked Profits. Voila! I got on some ideas, and big ones too. This is option trading and the the site trades options spreads. They are in business since 2000. Very impressive long-term record and I was in awe on how they did it. I would like to try my hands on it.....because I was really impress. It is a very conservative, honest and consistent service. And from what I saw from their record it is completely duplicable, highly recommended. My...my....my head is spinning wickedly with thoughts of profit rocketing up, up and above!

    New technology products

Ahhh! from where I come from Christmas starts when the month of the year ends in "ber", so Christmas starts as early as September. Well, well, well, my sis-in-law who has business acumen in her head would really be excited, because it's time for extra, extra, big income by this month up to December and I knew she needs new products, technology wise to add to her collections of items and products for early gift buyers. I would happily refer her to this site I have seen,China wholesale. Oh, my she would really, really be happy. She is an astute buyer and her collection matches those coming from big boutiques in our city. This goes, that she would enjoy all the products she finds in what I found. And...well.... I would have a big smile comes Christmas, because I would have the honor to choose my gift from her new tech products! That would be my big, big, day!

Easy as Eating My Morning Pancake!

I sometimes got so frustrated when applying for life insurance coverage, busy people like me need extra time to really do and some carriers require a medical exam for all policies, while others require exams only for policies with substantial face values. I found out though that to entice a wider market, many companies are now offering life insurance with no medical examination required but I could just answer health questions provided.By applying for a no medical exam life insurance policy all I have to do is answer some health questions. There is no need to set up an appointment with a medical examiner, provide a blood or urine sample, and have your blood pressure taken or set up any doctor visits to confirm my health status. This is what happened when I found out aboutOnline Life Insurance Additionally, all benefits are 100% income tax-free and I will have wait a thirty-day period in which I can change my mind. If this will happen, I will receive a full refund on my money paid toward a policy. This is so cute it's as easy as eating my morning pancake. Here's an added bonus, it's an easy 3-step process that I can complete from the privacy of my home or office without speaking to an agent or requiring you take a medical exam, I only have to answer a few health questions. If qualified, I can print my in-force life insurance policy in minutes! Yeheey...I cannot wait to do it now, so bye-bye and do it with me too!

This Web Hosting Thing Made My Day!

I was just curious about what web hosting is about. It's new to me though my brother who is a tech wiz new tons of information about it. I called him a while ago, but I got no answer from him, so I have to call another tech friend to explain my ignorance? Haahha....it was so enlightening. He explained in plain words so I can understand that a web hosting directory features independent rating reviews of the best hosting providers. He said to see web directories like ecommerce hosting With hundreds of web hosts vying for customer business, I have to understand how to choose the best one. I now am browsing it to understand what each can offer. There were those web hosting whose prices have dropped from low to down-right cheap. And future users like me can get a web site hosted for cheaper than ever before. Cheap web hosts offer web hosting plans so affordable, my eyes drop from its sockets......it's just so affordable. The directory mentioned above was a great help to me. My friend also added that when I can choose the best web host from the directory I will be assured that when I want to put a great idea in the hands of people who know what they’re doing they will really keep it safe. So I have to find the best web hosting company today from the directory mentioned above. Oh...come now am not that old to join this group of techies, and am glad I found help!

I Have Been so Busy, But Thanks God it's Thursday!

    My TT Prayer

God, it's been a busy week this past few days.
What with my internship training and all the requirements I have to learn.
Adjustment with a new institutional culture,
new load to learn, new faces to explore, new personalities
    to be thankful with.
It's been back breaking, bone creaking, mind boggling pace.
So fast, the clock ticks away, that at times I just forget to pray!
But, Lord just hear my plea....forgive me with all the things
    I've gone astray!
Though, I grumble with how things must work, yes Lord, you just understood.
Just, help me get to where I go, protect me Lord, or lest I fall.
Tomorrow will be a new day, and today has just pass away.
The future hold new challenges bold,
And Lord I know You are there to hold.
This old creaking bones reminds me off,
A fairer land where I can rest, the pains and loss,
and victories toss...for those whose faith that's never lost
    (Unedited Version for TT)

Thank you friends for all the encouragement, you made my day, I need more of it! Happy Thankful Thursday to all Blogging Friends in this whole wide e-Universe!
